We all know how much Ellen DeGeneres loves to give back to the community and to help people who are less fortunate than her…

So… just to make things a little bit more interesting I’ve decided to donate some money to charity…

Here is the deal…

I now have the task of selling 37 tickets to our “Ellen party” at the Highway on Friday the 30th of July 2010 (you can find all of the information you need here… http://ellen2adelaide-loc-tran.eventbrite.com/.

For every ticket that I sell I have decided to donate $8 to charity, so that’s potentially $296 that will go to your favourite charity (37x$8=$296).

Which charity?

I haven’t decided yet but perhaps you can help me out, we need some help in promoting our Twitter, FaceBook and YouTube presence so most likely  I will make my decision based on how much you help us out with that as well as by whoever helps me to sell the most tickets (just send me a copy of the receipt so I know that you are for real admin(at)starontourpromotions(dot)com).

Raine & Horne Supporting Budding Entrepreneurs To Bring Ellen To #Adelaide #Ellen2Adelaide #TweachMe

Raine & Horne is getting behind a team of local aspiring entrepreneurs in an effort to convince Ellen DeGeneres to visit Adelaide.

Raine & Horne is sponsoring Star On Tour Promotions – one of four finalists in the “HWY Apprentice” competition, run by the HWY – where entrants must devise a marketing campaign around a cause, cumulating in one final event.

Friday July 30 is Star On Tour’s big night and Raine & Horne is looking forward to being part of the event.

“We saw this as a great opportunity to engage with the community by supporting a group of creative, clever and motivated young people on a project that promotes South Australia and is also great fun,” Raine & Horne Chief Executive Kevin Magee said.

“The event line up looks fantastic and we’re excited to see how it all turns out – especially if they can attract Ellen’s attention.”

The event will be hosted by Matt Gilbertson from the Sunday Mail and features comedian Lindi Jane, The Deadly Boyz and DJ VIP, along with Adelaide’s die-hard Ellen DeGeneres fans and Ellen look-a-likes. Photos, a DVD and notebook from the night will be sent to Ellen in an effort to convince her to visit South Australia.

Star On Tour Promotions is busy marketing it’s event – making the most of numerous Ellen DeGeneres fan clubs on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.

“We’re pleased to sponsor this group because they’ve shown great initiative and originality in promoting their concept,” Mr Magee said.

“As a real estate franchise Raine & Horne is actively evolving in the social media realm and we find it inspiring to see young minds get creative with the medium.”

The winners of the HWY Apprentice will receive $5,000 to fly to Los Angeles. If Star On Tour wins, it plans to take its cause to the US and campaign to Ellen in person.

Mr Magee said the concept is a great way to promote South Australia and in particular the city of Adelaide.

“Even if Star On Tour Promotions doesn’t win Ellen over just yet, her worldwide fame gives this idea a truly international focus,” he said.

“The group’s innovative and fun approach to promotion will help draw greater attention to South Australia on many fronts – and they’re not likely to end their campaign any time soon,” he said.

Mr Magee also said it is important for the Raine & Horne brand to stay connected with its markets through community initiatives of this kind.

“The HWY Apprentice competition is a fantastic idea – by helping Star On Tour we are widening our scope and brand awareness,” he said.

“Real estate is not just buying and selling houses – it’s about building relationships and giving back to your local community.”

“Win or lose, we’re thrilled to be a part of this project and help these young entrepreneurs do something positive for our state.”

Man, this is weird!

It’s no secret that we’re trying to promote Adelaide to Ellen DeGeneres and planning to make a video that will showcase the best of Adelaide to Ellen in the hopes that when she decides to visit Australia that she will include us on her list of must see destinations…

The problem is that I HATE BEING ON CAMERA

Whenever I see a camera I think about those old skool World War I education videos you know what I mean?

“Duck and cover!”

I dislike having my picture taken because I always seem to come out looking terrible and with all of the exposure I’ve been getting lately I’ve been very concerned about how rough and dry my skin has been (coldest winter in 60 years!!!) so I went and booked an appointment with Selina Lam at the Beauty Access Medi Spa in Kent Town.

Did I tell you that I used to have serious acne problems?

Well it’s true and I tried everything including some medications (which I won’t mention because I don’t want to get sued) that had severe side effects, that was a few years ago now… before I met Selina.

So anyways during my appointment I had a bit of a chat to Selina about…

“the Ellen DeGeneres project”

And guess what?

She loves the concept!

The weird part is on Sunday night, a few days after my appointment with Selina I got a random text message from someone (a girl who’s name I won’t reveal) basically saying “Wow your ridiculously good looking” <<< No this is not a joke, I’m totally serious and this part is totally true (not that anything else I’ve written about up to this point has been a lie either ), just ask me the next time you see me in person and I’ll show you the text message, I saved it in my favourites folder

Could this be a coincidence?
